When purchasing a YubiKey, it is recommended to adopt a primary and backup key solution. When setting up two-factor authentication for an account, configure both the primary and backup keys for authentication. In case the primary key is lost or stolen, the backup key can be used to log into the account. The backup key should also be stored securely.
